U.S. Economy Still Competing

U.S. Economy

Even though it seems our economy is doing horribly, we’re still at the top of the heap globally. That’s 15 years in a row for us, but how long that title is going to last, no one knows.

Because of the financial misery we’ve suffered this past year, the title may be in someone else’s hands as early as next year. Hong Kong and Singapore are knocking on the U.S.’s door, with Switzerland right behind them in this year’s World Competiveness Yearbook.

After Switzerland? Luxembourg, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Sweden, and then the Netherlands.

While the current economic situation in the U.S. has some similarities to Japan during it’s financial downfall, enough differences exist that the U.S. could escape what Japan couldn’t–a meltdown in the stock market, land prices, credit cooperatives and regional banks and other financial entities.

For our sake, let’s hope we get it right.
