Don’t Get Scammed!

Foreclosure Fraud

With the foreclosure mess running rampant around the country, the vultures are looming overhead, swooping down on homeowners to pick what’s left. The bait? Foreclosure seminars targetting immigrants, using the language barrier as leverage.

On Wednesday, FBI and investigators from the San Diego County’s DA’s office took action, arresting five people for conning predominantly Spanish-speaking immigrants into signing over the titles to their homes thinking they were establishing their property as a federal land grant. Diego Gil, Edgar Martinez, William Hutchings and his wife, Xiaoke Li, were all arrested, as well as Shawna Landis, Hutchings’ ex-wife.

The five-some face conspiracy counts, deceitful practices as foreclosure consultants, and grand theft. If you live in California, and have dealt with any of these people, or with their companies, Federal Land Grant, Co., Land Grant Services, and KBS Resources, there’s a good chance you got scammed.

The operation was not a small one, relatively speaking. Almost 350 properties were transferred to Federal Land Grant. Just when you think you’ve seen the worst of the worst, people like these come out of the woodwork.

Despicable.
